Event details

The ECS Centre for IoT Pervasive Systems is hosting a seminar from Dr Stephanie Gauthier and Victoria Aragon from the University's Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. The seminar is titled "IoT for Building Monitoring".

Abstract: In this seminar, we will review the tools used in some of our recent projects, for example monitoring: ambient temperature/RH/gases, heating system monitoring (flow rate, temperature (supply/return), smart TRVs), energy (elec/gas)

Biography: Stephanie Gauthier is an Associate Professor in Energy and Buildings and the Admission Tutor for Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Having graduated in Architecture from the University of Paris Val de Seine, she completed her MSc in Environmental Design and Engineering and my PhD in Energy and the Built Environment at University College London. Having completed my PGCert in Academic Practice at the University of Southampton, she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Prior to her MSc, she worked for over eight years in consultancy (Arup, HOK, Atkins, ADPi and AREP), mostly focused in buildings and infrastructure. As an architect and project manager in multi-disciplinary design teams, she collaborated on schemes in Abu Dhabi, UK, France and China; including the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai, the King Alfred Development in association with Gehry Partners, BSkyB broadcast centre in London and Abu Dhabi National Stadium. After her PhD, she was a research associate at the UCL Energy Institute. Part of Cisco Future Cities project, her research focused on demand-side response from commercial buildings.

Biography: Victoria Aragon, MSc, MEng is a researcher in Energy and the built environment at the Energy & Climate change Division. With a background in Civil Engineering, her current research focuses on increasing the efficiency of energy delivery in domestic buildings and understanding user behaviour. Additionally, Victoria is an active member of WISET+, a staff network to support women at the University of Southampton

This seminar will be hybrid. It will be given in 100/7011, but also live-streamed via MS Teams (assuming technology allows on-the-day). You can join using the following link:
