I2BS Project Exhibits at Condition Monitoring 2019 Conference

The "Integrated Intelligent Bearing Systems for Real-Time Aircraft Engine Monitoring" (I2BS) project exhibited and presented at the Condition Monitoring 2019 conference in Glasgow. The project attracted interest from a range of attendees, who were keen to hear about the work carried out in self-powered smart bearings for the next generation of aircraft engines.

The project was represented by Patrick Mirring from Schaeffler, and Prof Ling Wang, Dr Terry Harvey, Dr Bahareh Zaghari, and Kamran Esmaeili from the University of Southampton. As well as the exhibition desk, the project contributed an invited overview presentation by Prof Wang, and a separate presentation by Dr Harvey entitled "Development of a bearing fault detection and diagnosis suite based on multi-sensing techniques for aero engines".

The project is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Safran Aircraft Engines, Schaeffler Aerospace, and the University of Southampton (national Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton and the Smart Electronic Materials and Systems Research Group).
