Title: How the IoT can make a change in agriculture
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) can influence how we do things and how we use resources. With a need for more sustainable practices in all aspects of our lives, this talk shows how autonomous drones with embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI), and sensor networks, can optimise the use of resources in the agricultural sector with a focus on rural and remote regions.
Biography: Dr Rafael Cepeda-Lopez, MBA CEng FIET SMIEEE SMF, is the founder and co-founder of AgriTech startups Altar and Entio. He holds an MBA and an MSc in Financial Management from the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) in The Netherlands; and a PhD and MSc degrees in Communication Systems & Signal Processing from The University of Bristol, UK. Rafael founded Altar and Entio after working for InterDigital as Internet of Things (IoT) and Societal Challenges Lead for Europe. Previously, at Sky and Toshiba Research Europe, he led multiple initiatives on future technologies and their applications. During his more than 20 years of professional activities, Rafael has led multiple innovation actions resulting in products, patents and international publications.
